At present the scientific topic "Traditions of T. Shevchenko in the Ukrainian female prose of the late 19th – early 20th centuries" remainsamong the less well-researched. Despite the fact that some research on this topic has been made, mainly fragmentary studies about the traditions of Shevchenko in the literary works by Marko Vovchok, Lesya Ukrainka, Olha Kobylianska, Nataliya Kobrynska, Eugenia Yaroshinska, Khrystia Alchevska, Dniprova Chaika, and findings have been published, there is still no fundamental study that could shed light on the literary process as a whole at the end of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th centuries in the context of the stated topic. Analysing this topic, we must point out that female writers synthesized Ukrainian and Western European traditions, at the same time showing themselves as original and authentic writers in three hypostases, as M. Pryhodij singles out, – neo-romantic, symbolic and impressionistic. The above-mentioned female writers created literary works that are interesting and innovative both in content and form with T. Shevchenko's traditions clearly observed. The characters they created accumulated aesthetic and ethical ideals; the tendencies of historical development, and in the end, each of the authors' outlook, furthermore, representing the general image of several particular types of people (women) belonging to a certain socio-historical epoch.
