In the proposed article the author refers to one of the most hermetic works by Taras Shevchenko. We consider the notion of genius as a transcendent appropriate, as a kind of author selfdialoge. Metaphysical desire of person self allows enables to answer the question about meaning of life. Therefore, the verbalized fact of Shevchenko personal episteme programs the semantics of poems of his last period of creativity. Transcendent inter dependence of past and future in the soul of a poet creates the intuition of new "beginning", creates the fore boding of in finity of what he experienced. This eschatological result of its own being anticipates by the poet in the poem "Whether distress and bondage ...".With the concept of "spiritualnight" in the article is reproduced the paradigm of personal in ventory of the poet. Since the in ternal form of "Whether distress and bondage ..." poetical in tentions is a mystical context, the work can be considered as a "key" to Taras Shevchenko existence. The answer to the question sposed by the poetis expectedonly in the context of its own metaphysical orientation.
The story "Musician" (1854–1855) by Shevchenko is considered in typological relationships with a number of Russian novels of the 1830s and 1840s about musical art such as "Last Quartet by Beethoven" (1830) and "Sebastian Bach" (1834) by V. Odoevskij, "Birthday Celebration" (1832–1833, publ. 1835) by M. Pavlov, "The story of two galoshes" (1839) by V. Sollogub, "Maxim Sozontovich Berezovskij" (1844) by N. Kukolnik. This comparison showed some similarities in the treatment of similar themes, essentially it made possible to identify a specific artistic approach of the Ukrainian writer to portray an image of musician, to trace the features of the poetics of his story in the context of works of a similar ideological and thematic direction.
