The Master thesis considers strategies and techniques for reproducing diagnostic vocabulary in a dubbed medical TV-series, analysis of the specific features of audiovisual translation process and translator’s decision-making options. This study identified the main procedures of translation and techniques of rendering medical terminology when creating multilingual versions of a medical TV-series.
The subject matter of the study was the strategies and techniques of translating diagnostic vocabulary in the context of a medical TV-series. The scope of the study was a range of specific features of translated diagnostic vocabulary of the US medical TV-series "Doctor House”. The paper aimed to analyse the specifics of diagnostic terminology used in medical TV-series and to identify the ways to overcome translation difficulties that arise when conveying such terminology into the target language. The methods of text segmentation, component, contrastive and distributional analyses were used in the study.
