The research is devoted to the political speeches of the US presidential candidates during the 2020 presidential campaign. The purpose of the work is to study the features functioning of modern political discourse and analyze its linguistic features. In accordance with the goal, the following research tasks were formed: a) to define the concept of political discourse, describing its characteristic features; b) characterize the functional and genre-stylistic features of political discourse; c) investigate pragmatic aspects of political discourse; d) investigate strategies and tactics used in political texts; e) analyze political speeches and describe their lexical, grammatical and pragmatic features.
