This paper explores the application of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the transportation sector to examine its strategic impact on modern transport ecosystems. It highlights key technological components, including data collection sensors, connectivity tools like 5G, and analytics that enable automated, efficient, and safer operations. The study examines practical applications such as smart traffic lights, autonomous vehicles, freight monitoring, and railway monitoring systems. Furthermore, various mathematical models - including the Vehicle Routing Problem, fuel optimization, and traffic flow models - are presented to demonstrate process optimization. Finally, critical challenges such as cybersecurity risks, system integration, infrastructure scalability, and environmental concerns are analyzed.
