This thesis deals with verbal and nonverbal means of communication in expressing emotions in America and Great Britain.
This master's thesis delves into the intricate realm of emotion expression within the political discourse of American and British politicians, employing a nuanced analysis of both linguistic and non-verbal modalities. The introductory chapter embarks on an exploration of the dynamic interplay between language and emotions, unveiling the multifaceted expressive potential inherent in verbal and non-verbal communication channels. Additionally, this chapter delves into the cultural idiosyncrasies that underpin the nuanced nuances of emotional expression within the political landscapes of Great Britain and the USA.
The expected results of our research consisted in identifying the most frequent verbal and nonverbal communication tools used by American and British politicians to express emotions. Another aspect was the analysis of the impact of emotional language and nonverbal cues on the perception of political messages. And the last one, to conduct a comparative analysis of verbal and nonverbal communication tools used by American and British politicians.
The practical significance was as follows: our research findings can be used to understand how politicians leverage emotions to influence audiences, and to develop more effective political communication strategies.
