Creative work of Taras Shevchenko was the focus of Ukrainian-Georgian literature connections in XIX-XX centuries. Most of comparative and historic-literary studies (O. Baramidze, L. Asatiani, O. Bakonidze, O. Mumkudiani, I. Lutseko, D. Kosaryk and oth.) paid a lot of attention to the great writer (Kobzar). The meeting of A. Tsereteli and Taras Shevchenko in St. Petersburg and later memoirs of Georgian dissident of 60th became the central point of numerous researches. Tsereteli's admiration for Shevchenko's work can be explained by typology of Ukrainian and Georgian romanticist and chosen topics' similarities. However there are still some unсlear moments of the meeting left. What was the reason for this meeting? There were a lot of outstanding writers among the members of the Georgian competitors' society in St. Petersburg. So what kind of questions were addressed to A. Tsereteli by T. Shevchenko? How important was this meeting for the writer? And what did Shevchenko focus on? This article can be taken as the material for the following thoughts and ideas over the suggested by Shevchenko studies researchers (I. Dzjuba, L. Generaljuk, O. Boronj) Caucasus topic in Taras Shevchenko works and other literatures.
