In this paper, Shevchenko discourse has been analyzed in Vera Rich's translations and literary criticism. This discourse was determined both by translations, their comments, and articles on Shevchenko issues. It is reasonable to underline the impact of Shevchenko's poetics on V. Rich's poetry. The English translator interprets Shevchenko's poems as an epistemological ground for the modern Ukrainian literature. The translational strategies of Vera Rich were oriented toward the maximal adequacy of the original text in its English version. This occurs on the phonetic, morphological, lexical, and syntactic levels.
