Abstract :
The master’s thesis examines the language profiles of female politicians from the United Kingdom and the United States, focusing on the connection between language, gender, and power within political communication. The research covers developments from the 20th to the 21st century, emphasizing the increasing influence of women in politics and the strategic use of language by female leaders to shape political discourse.
The core of the analysis involves a detailed examination of linguistic strategies utilized by prominent politicians such as Theresa May, Liz Truss, Penny Mordaunt, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Kamala Harris. Utilizing qualitative discourse analysis, the study assesses public speeches, interviews, and statements to identify key linguistic patterns that these leaders employ to assert power, navigate political landscapes, and articulate their agendas.
