Статтю присвячено аналізу до-Евріпідових витоків класичної версії міфу про Медею. Були проаналізовані найперші згадки та деталі образу з метою реконструкції образу варварки, вбивці, матері та коханки, що переплітаються в парадоксальності образу. Виявлені позитивні праобрази Медеї на противагу пізнім версіям міфу.
