Abstract :
Determining and forming the structure of the articulatory bases of two languages of the inflectional type in the form of comparison contributes to the effective acquisition of the correct pronunciation of a foreign language. On the basis of contrastive analysis, an experimental phonetic study of the systems of constancy and vocalism of English and Ukrainian is carried out with the aim of developing practical recommendations for mastering one language by a native speaker of the other. The key differences in the pronunciation of vocalic and consonantal sounds that create difficulties for foreigners were identified. In particular, the study shows that the greatest difficulties are caused by those Ukrainian sounds that are absent in English or have significant articulation differences. The study achieved all its objectives, the results of which serve as a methodological basis for learning a foreign language (Ukrainian and English) with several practical recommendations for linguists and students. The optimal methodological basis for the study was descriptive, comparative, experimental and phonetic methods. The sequential ordering of the units of phonetic systems, the analogical study of differences based on schemes and the application of palatography material formed the field for an in-depth study of the goal.
