Чимале значення в дослідженнях взаємозв'язку навколишнього середовища і людського суспільства має виявлення сутності трьох типів відносин: рельєф і природа; рельєф і господарство; рельєф і населення. Дуже ефективним методом для виявлення такого типу відносин є кореляційний аналіз, який полягає у знаходженні залежності між двома чи кількома випадковими змінними. В межах еколого геоморфологічного аналізу Чернігівської області розраховано ранговий коефіцієнт кореляції між інтегральним показником складності рельєфу в межах адміністративно-територіальних систем і найбільш важливими екостабілізаційними та дестабілізаційними чинниками впливу на стан геоморфосфери території Чернігівської області, визначено розмір і характер кореляційних звʼязків між нимиThe application of correlation analysis in ecological-geomorphological evaluation of the territory is considered. Methods are widely used for theoretical and applied researches in geographic sciences, which consist of using mathematical knowledge and concepts. Mathematical method is widely used in ecological-geomorphological studies. Natural interactions, of a large number by their nature, are expressed through correlation dependencies. Ecological-geomorphological analysis includes assessment of the impact of relief on the state of the ecosystem; Detection of harmful effects of geomorphological conditions on the sociosphere; Assessment and forecast of unfavorable manifestations of exogenous processes with a certain type of economic use of the territory; Development of recommendations for reducing the above-mentioned impacts; Preservation and controlled change of geomorphological conditions of the territory with its economic use. As a result, in studying of the relationship between the environment and human society, the identification of the essence of the three types of relations: relief and nature; Relief and economy; Relief and population. A very effective method for detecting this kind of relationship is a correlation analysis, which is to find the relationship between two or more random variables.
