It is determined that in the conditions of increasing the number of persons with disabilities, the appearance of new internal and external challenges, the need for social reforms, the problem with developing the latest legislation in this area has risen. The main problems of development of the newest model of social protection of persons with disabilities are emphasized. The role of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is emphasized on the process of development of the newest legislation of Ukraine on the rights of persons with disabilities. The main features of the Convention are defined. Conclusions and suggestions are made.У цій статті досліджуються ключові аспекти міжнародно-правового статусу Конвенції ООН про права осіб з інвалідністю та її вплив на кодифікацію законодавства про соціальний захист. Визначено, що в умовах зростання чисельності осіб з інвалідністю, появи нових внутрішніх та зовнішніх викликів, необхідності проведення соціальних реформ, назріла проблема щодо розвитку новітнього законодавства у цій царині. Підкреслено основні проблеми розвитку новітньої моделі соціального захисту осіб з інвалідністю. Наголошено на ролі Конвенції ООН про права осіб з інвалідністю на процес розвитку новітнього законодавства України про права осіб з інвалідністю. Визначено основні ознаки Конвенції.
