Важливим свідченням належності до українського етносу є традиційне вбрання. Наукова розвідка присвячена висвітленню народного одягу Луганщини як складової цілісної традиційної української культури. Основою написання статті є напрацювання українських дослідників одягу, зокрема Т. Віхрової, Н. Каплун, Т. Клочко, Н. Радченко, О. Мельник, присвячені вбранню Луганщини, що стали значним внеском у вивчення костюма краю. Джерельна база охоплює широкий пласт польових матеріалів про види і типи одягу Луганщини, що записані в різних районах Луганської області та опубліковані у десятому томі корпусу експедиційних джерел «Етнографічний образ сучасної України», а також речові зразки, демонстровані в ілюстрованому каталозі «Народне мистецтво Луганщини у фондах Музею народної архітектури та побуту України». Зазначені роботи дали можливість простежити особливості традиційного вбрання Луганщини – чоловічого, жіночого та дитячого. Українська етнічна традиція виразно простежується у різних типах вбрання, виявляючи регіональні, локальні риси, спільність з іншими етнографічними регіонами, зокрема збереження місцевих особливостей в одязі переселенців із Полтавщини, Київщини, Чернігівщини. У другій половині ХХ ст. традиційне вбрання виходить з ужитку, відбувається його трансформація. Однак польові народознавчі записи засвідчили побутування на Луганщині у 60–70-х роках ХХ ст. традиційних комплексів вбрання, хоча зазнали змін матеріали або способи декорування костюма, збереження тяглості традицій народного вбрання в обрядовій сфері. Історичні події в Україні, що актуалізувались у період Помаранчевої революції та Революції Гідності, стали початком процесу, в якому українське народне вбрання виконує важливу об’єднавчу національну місію. У війні з росією актуалізується знакова ідентифікаційна функція народного одягу українців. Зокрема, народне вбрання, вишита сорочка луганчан стали виявами їхньої самосвідомості та громадянської позиції.In the period of russia's war against Ukraine, folk culture and its identification codes are of great significance. Traditional clothing is an important evidence of belonging to the Ukrainian ethnic group. Scientific research is devoted to highlighting the folk clothing of the Luhansk region as a component of the integral traditional Ukrainian culture. The basis of writing the article is the work of Ukrainian clothing researchers, in particular, T. Vikhrova, N. Kaplun, T. Klochko, N. Radchenko, O. Melnyk, dedicated to the clothing of the Luhansk region, which became a significant contribution to the study of the costume of this region. The source base covers a wide layer of field materials about the types of clothing of the Luhansk region, recorded in various districts of the region and published in the tenth volume of the corpus of expeditionary sources “Ethnographic image of modern Ukraine”; as well as material samples displayed in the illustrated catalog “Folk Art of Luhansk Region in the Funds of the Museum of Folk Architecture and Everyday Life of Ukraine”. These works made it possible to trace the features of the traditional men's, women's and children's clothing of the Luhansk region. The Ukrainian ethnic tradition can be clearly traced in various types of clothing, revealing regional and local features, commonality with other ethnographic regions, in particular, the preservation of local features in the clothing of migrants from Poltava, Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. In the second half of the 20th century traditional clothing goes out of use, its transformation takes place. However, field ethnographic records have confirmed the use traditional clothing complexes in the Luhansk region in the 60s and 70s of the 20th century, although the materials or methods of decorating the costume have undergone changes, preserving the durability of the traditions of folk clothing in the ceremonial sphere. The historical events in Ukraine, which took place during the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity, became the beginning of the process in which the Ukrainian national costume fulfills an important unifying national mission. In the war with russia, the symbolic identification function of Ukrainian national clothing is actualized.
