Дослідження послуговується інтермедіальним методом як основним, з елементами культурно-історичного, жанрологічного, біографічного та наратологічного. Бакалаврська робота передбачає аналіз підходів до розуміння екфразису і гіпотипозису та виявлення їхнього функціонування в романі. У першому розділі розглядається взаємодія живопису й літератури в теоретичному аспекті. Подаються різні погляди на екфразис вітчизняних та зарубіжних дослідників, зокрема Л. Генералюк, В.Т. Мітчелла, Л. Геллера, Дж. Хеффернана, Т. Бовсунівської, В. Просалової та ін. Також приділяється увага спробі Л. Генералюк надати визначеності й окреслити сферу застосування гіпотипозису.The subject of the study is ekphrasis and hypotyposis, and the object is Somerset Maugham's novel The Moon and the Copperheads. The research uses the intermedial method as the main method, with elements of cultural-historical, genre, biographical, and narrative. The bachelor's thesis involves analyzing approaches to understanding ekphrasis and hypotyposis and identifying their functioning in the novel. The first chapter examines the interaction between painting and literature from a theoretical perspective. Different views on ekphrasis by domestic and foreign researchers are presented, including L. Generaliuk, W.T. Mitchell, L. Heller, J. Heffernan, T. Bovsunivska, V. Prosalova, and others. Attention is also paid to L. Generaliuk's attempt to provide certainty and outline the scope of hypotyposis. The second section examines W.S. Maugham's novel “The Moon and Sixpence” in terms of the theoretical approaches and understanding of ekphrasis and hypotyposis outlined in the first section. The third section presents the methodological development of an integrated lesson on the topic “Verbal representation of paintings in S.
