Fairclough, T. Dobrosklonskaya, M. Zheltuhina, V. Karasyk, and many others have tried not only to interpret and investigate discourse but also paid particular attention to one of the most critical types of it – mass media discourse. The so-called information society was the main reason of mass media discourse appearing. Years ago, mass media was viewed only as a source of spreading news but now linguistic and sociological studies conduct deep researches into it as a powerful manipulative tool and a generator of public collective opinion. With the influence of that type of discourse, people are able to form a certain portrait of not only personalities discussed but also of the whole countries. The object of the research is Western mass media discourse and its main peculiarities depending on the source country.
