Ukrainian art represents significant and value dimension of the national being of the Ukrainianess, gives a vision ofhistorical being of the Ukrainian national, reflects spiritual links between a personality and the national, spiritual unity  and successionof generation; both imaginative-symbolic and significant attributes of the national values and ideals are characteristic of it. That iswhy such purposeful usage of art in modern conditions the can be a powerful factor of consolidation of Ukrainians.After the receipt of independence Ukraine’s in the art approved new artistic values and directions, took place revaluation ofits social role and functions, formed a new look at the very essence of art. Artists, inspired by energy of the world level, directed theirefforts to implement their own artistic project. At the same time in the conditions of market relations in front of artists are brought newproblems find his audience that was also important factor in the formation of the new aesthetic tastes and the creation of the lastedstyles in the art. Thus, formed galaxy of artists who quickly respond to changes in society and artistic culture.Nowadays in Ukraine there are two large directions in art. First – actually is «modern artists» who are active, pragmatic andcapable financially to provide their own shocking projects. Second artists are hold traditions in art, their creation leans against ofsearches of new plastic forms, compositions and coloring, thus the modal of national art which is based on the synthesis of Ukrainianfolklore traditions and newest modernistic receptions becomes firmly established. The representatives of these directions havedifferent concepts and picture both of essence of modern art and about his functions.The Ukrainian contemporary art showed the fact of the existence not only expressly, but also gradually becomes firmlyestablished in outer artistic space. It sharply and react in time of the public problems, stimulating an association to their decision. Inthe present contemporary art there is one of the means of formation of the Ukrainian image as a democratic, educated and civilizedcountry, because the contemporary art is reflection of society and its acute problems, new technologies and creative ideas.Keywords: Ukraine, Ukrainian society, culture, cultural space, creative industries, art, contemporary art.У статті показано, що мистецтво, постаючи формою духовно-практичного освоєння дійсності,активно синтезує в емоційно-образній структурі нескінченну багатогранність соціокультурних відносин і здатнеактивно перетворювати реалії людського буття в художню реальність, яка, в свою чергу, виконує роль не лише засобувідображення, але й специфічного духовного чинника людських дій, вчинків, творчості в усіх сферах життя людини йсуспільства. Мистецтво як своєрідний універсальний спосіб буття здатне інтегрувати зовнішні культурні смисли вдуховний світ людини. Встановлено, що використовуючи мистецтво як специфічний інструмент впливу на суспільнусвідомість, можна консолідувати українство навколо значущих для української держави цінностей і смислів. Іншимисловами, мистецтво можна перетворити на дієвий чинник формування духовних потреб, національно-патріотичнихпочуттів та національної свідомості українства. З’ясовано, що в наші дні мистецтво слід розглядати як важливийсоціокультурний інструмент досягнення порозуміння між країнами і спільнотами.
