З’ясовано, що найбільший науковий інтерес до цієї лінійної структури пов’язаний із мінерагенічними та пошуковими дослідженнями. Питання її географічного положення, будови та тектонічної природи у різних авторських интерпретациях суттєво відрізняються.Since Karpinsky’s papers have been published, the question periodically arose whether the line of dislocations distinguished by Karpinsky can be regarded as one integrative structure, or its constituents might be an expression of a functioning of a single mechanism. In the 20th century, the Karpinsky lineament and its fragments have been the object of various geological studies. Tectonic investigations occurred in the context of the problems of geosynclines, advanced deflections, avlakogenes, and deep faults. Mineralogenic ivestigations developed in connection with a search of mineral resources: coal, salt, oil, gas and ores. Publications on the connection of the dislocation with mineral resources (ore deposits and hydrocarbons) clearly dominated. The Caspian segment of the Karpinsky lineament that obtained the name "Karpisky Rampart" or "Karpinski Ridge" has been studied best in the literature of the late 20th - early 21st century. The general structural and genetic aspects of the study of this Trans-Eurasian lineament are regarded only in a few works. The analysis of the latter is the subject of this paper in which the principal discrepancies in the definition and interpretation of the Karpinskyi lineament are thoroughly considered. During the study of the Karpinsky lineament, there occurred changes in the views at his constituents, as well as in theoretical approach to determination of its origin. This has been controlled by enlargement of the data base on the research object, as well as by development of theoretical ideas about the possible mechanisms of formation and the further functioning of such extended planetary lineaments. In fact, they are regarded now as a system of disjunctive structures of a rift type. The ways of lineament expression in the landscapes and topography of the Earth’s surface still remains unclear. The idea is to use the results of landscape and geomorphological studies in order to establish clearly the structure and borders of the Karpinsky lineament.ukлінеамент Карпінськогоретроспективний аналізthe Karpinsky lineamentretrospective analysisСтаття
