The analysis of normative legal acts of individual states and international оrganizations in different historical periods has been made. On this basis the genesis of the appearance and formation the ideas of equality in society and the international legal regulation of the principle elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation was determined. The main universal standards of non-discrimination of employment in general and in relation to particular social groups have been established.Стаття присвячена дослідженню витоків та нормативних основ рівності та недопущення дискримінації, починаючи від античних часів і до сучасності. Здійснено аналіз нормативно-правових актів окремих держав та міжнародних організацій в різні історичні періоди, визначено на цій основі генезу виникнення й становлення ідей рівності в суспільстві та міжнародно-правового регулювання принципу недискримінації у сфері праці.
