Українознавчий альманах, 19.https://ir.library.knu.ua/handle/15071834/17676The author makes an attempt to perform theoretical and methodological study of the areas and study features of processes associated with the emergence and development of Ukrainian social movements in the late XIX - mid XX centuries based on analysis of monographic literature.The article underlines the peculiarities of formation and development of social movements of the second half of XIX – the beginning of the XX century; describes the organizational development of social assosiations in social and political, cultural and religious areas defines their impact on the Ukrainian national movement of the Russian and Austro-Hungarian empires. The author traces the evolution of the basic forms of state authorities influence on the Ukrainian public initiative during various historical periods that negatively influenced functioning of social associations, voluntary societies and unions.Due to the performed research it was determined that the Russian imperial government conducted strong chauvinistic policies against Ukrainians aimed at gradual assimilation, the destruction of language and culture. Ethnic and political and social and political processes taking place in continental European empires of the late nineteenth century had a significant influence on the formation of Ukrainian public movement. They worsened the situation of Ukrainians extremely leading to creation of their own system of associations that had to perform full support to the community in solving urgent problems and represent the interests of Ukrainians in the relationship with the imperial bureaucracy.Віктор ДоценкоУ статті на основі аналізу монографічної літератури робиться спроба дати теоретико-методологічне обґрунтування напрямків та особливостей дослідження процесів пов’язаних з виникненням та розвитком громадського руху українства кінця ХІХ – середини ХХ ст.Ключові слова: громадський рух, українство, імперії, консолідація.ukСтаття
