The article provides an analysis of the transformation of theprosecutor's office, which operates in the field of defense, as well as its features and tasks. The article contains the formulation of the concept of place as meaning and special powers, which is necessary for understanding the activities of this specialized institute. The concept of the place of the prosecutor's office in the law enforcement system, as well as the importance of specialized prosecutors' offices during the period of martial law, is analyzed. Features of the activities of the prosecutor of the specialized prosecutor's office in the field of defense are determined by the needs of the field of defense during the period of martial law. Such activity is of a particularly important nature for state interests, limited in time by the duration of the period of martial law. There is a partial duplication of the powers of prosecutors of regional, district and local prosecutor's offices, which is connected with the single normative acts that prosecutors are guided by in the performance of their functional duties. On the one hand, the activities of the prosecutor in the field of defense are related to the protection of the rights and freedoms of subjects with special powers, and on the other hand, they are the subjects of criminal prosecution, which is controlled by specialized prosecutors' offices in the field of defense. The place of the specialized prosecutor's office also covers activities in different spheres: criminal-procedural, civil, economic, administrative, organizational. The prosecutor's office remains an independent and independent body of government, but this does not indicate its belonging to a separate branch of government: it is connected with the realization of the interests of all bodies endowed with power. At the same time, the prosecutor's office (prosecutor) is a component of the mechanism of control over the implementation of decisions of state authorities, which contributes to the observance of legality at all levelsСпеціальна прокуратура в сфері оборони є відносно новим утворенням, яке почала функціонувати в період воєнного стану. В статті наданий аналіз трансформації прокуратури, яка діє в сфері оборони, а також визначені її особливості та задачі. Стаття містить формулювання поняття місця, значення та особливих повноважень, що необхідне для розуміння діяльності цього спеціалізованого інституту. Проаналізовано поняття місця прокуратури в правоохоронній системі, а також значення спеціалізованих прокуратур у період воєнного стану. Наголошується, що система повноважень прокурора спеціалізованої прокуратури в сфері оборони обумовлюється потребами захисту інтересів держави у сфери оборони в період воєнного стану. Така діяльність носить особливо важливий для державних інтересів характер. Проте, має місце часткове дублювання повноважень прокурорів обласних, окружних та місцевих прокуратур, що пов’язується з єдиними нормативними актами, якими прокурори керуються при виконанні своїх функційних обов’язків. З одного боку, діяльність прокурора в сфері оборони пов’язана із захистом прав і свобод суб’єктів зі спеціальними повноваженнями, а з іншого, саме вони є суб’єктами кримінального переслідування, яке контролюється спеціалізованими прокуратурами в сфері оборони. Місце спеціалізованої прокуратури також охоплює діяльність у відмінних одна від одної сферах: кримінально-процесуальній, цивільній, адміністративній, господарській, організаційній. Прокуратура залишається самостійним і незалежним органом влади, але це не свідчить про її належність до окремої гілки влади: це пов’язано з реалізацією інтересів всіх органів, наділених владними повноваженнями.
