Українознавчий альманах(21), 88–93.https://ir.library.knu.ua/handle/15071834/18291The calendar of public holidays of Ukraine and state symbols in the system of national values of Ukrainians in the context of modern research approaches is researched. It is determined that the idea of consolidation of the nation is laid down in holding a series of holidays using national symbols at the state level in the post-colonial period. It is revealed that the state creation of our independent Ukraine is based on the values of freedom, independence and patriotism. The historical and cultural features of creation of national symbols and state holidays of Ukraine are analyzed, taking into account the historical heritage of the struggle for independence of our state for many years, demonstrating the end of the colonial regime of the neighboring state (August 24, 1991, the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR proclaimed Ukraine as an independent, democratic state and issued the "Declaration of Ukraine’s Independence" "in support of the All-Ukrainian Referendum on December 1, 1991). It is noted that the state symbols of Ukraine are the State Flag of Ukraine, the State Emblem of Ukraine and the State Anthem of Ukraine. The description of state symbols of Ukraine and the procedure for their use were established by the Law that was adopted by the majority of the constitutional composition of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian (Article 20 of the Constitution of Ukraine). The calendar of public holidays of Ukraine is described and there are not only memorable events of the national state-creation (Independence Day of Ukraine, Day of victory over Nazism in the Second World War, Constitution Day of Ukraine, Day of Defender), but also cultural components and spiritual traditions of Ukrainians, that are demonstrated in national religious holidays: Christmas, Easter, Trinity, Holy Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The last one is one of the greatest religious holidays that has become of particular importance for many reasons in Ukraine, and in 2017 this holiday has become even more urgent, since October 14 was recognized as a state holiday and is the Day of the Ukrainian Kozaks and Day of Defender. The role of state holidays and symbols is estimated in the awakening of national consciousness, the feeling of Ukrainians’ unity and the development of an independent Ukraine. It is revealed the position that the idea of consolidation of the nation in the system of state holidays and state symbols is the basis of state building, has great potential for consolidation of people and education of a true citizen and patriot of our country. Визначено, що ідея консолідації нації закладена в проведенні цілого ряду свят з використанням національної символіки на державному рівні в постколоніальний період. Виявлено, що державотворення нашої незалежної України ґрунтується на цінностях свободи, незалежності й патріотизмі. Проаналізовано історико-культурні особливості творення національних символів та державних свят України, враховуючи історичну спадщину виборювання незалежності нашої держави впродовж багатьох років, демонструючи кінець колоніального режиму сусідньої держави (24 серпня 1991 Верховна Рада Української РСРпроголосила Україну незалежною, демократичною державою і винесла «Акт проголошення незалежності України» на підтвердження всеукраїнським референдумом 1 грудня 1991 року). Зазначено, що державними символами України є Державний прапор України, Державний герб України і Державний Гімн України. Опис державних символів України та порядок їх використання встановлюються Законом, що приймається більшістю від конституційного складу Верховної Ради України (Стаття 20 Конституції України). Охарактеризовано календар державних свят України, де відзначають не тільки пам’ятні події національного державотворення (День Незалежності України, День перемоги над нацизмом у Другій світовій війні, День Конституції України, День захисника), а й культурні компоненти та духовні традиції українців, продемонстрованих у народно-релігійних святах: Різдва, Великодня, Трійці, Покрови Пресвятої Богородиці. Оцінено роль державних свят та символів у пробудженні національної свідомості, відчутті єдності й гуртування українства та розбудови незалежної України. Висвітлено позицію про те, що ідея консолідації нації в системі державних свят та державних символів є основою державотворення, а також має великий потенціал для консолідації громадян й виховання справжнього громадянина та патріота нашої держави.
