Надається інформація про заснування селища у 1673 році переселенцями з Правобережної України. Підкреслюється, що саме по річці Оріль з давніх-давен проходили кордони між Київською Руссю та Степом, слов’янським та тюркським світами, що відбивається на матеріальній культурі цього регіону.The relevance of the research. The article reproduces a scientific report on the results of underwater archaeological exploration of the Oril River near the village of Nekhвороshcha, Novi Sanzhary District, Poltava Region. Information is given about the village foundation in 1673 by immigrants from Right Bank Ukraine. From ancient times, the borders between Kievan Rus and the Steppe, the Slavic and Turkic worlds, passed along the Oril River. The famous Zmievi Valy stretch along it. Later, the border between the lands of the Zaporizhzhian Host and Slobidska Ukraine passed along Orіl. In the 17th century, to protect against regular Tatar raids on the borders of Ukraine and the Steppe, the construction of the so-called Ukrainian line of fortifications, which included the Vasylkiv fortress in Nekhvoroshchi, began. On the left bank of the Orіl, the Zaporizhia founded the Uspensky Zaoril monastery, which was considered “military” and carried out certain duties for the benefit of the Zaporizhzhian Host. The purpose of this article is to inform the scientific community about the results of the underwater archaeological work of the underwater archaeological expedition near the river Oril. Conclusions. In 1990, local historians from Poltava turned to the underwater archaeologists of the city of Zaporizhzhia with a request to survey the bottom of the Oril River near the confluence of the Nekhvoroshchanka tributary. At that time, a permanent Expedition of Underwater Archaeological Works was working in Zaporizhzhia, which had accumulated considerable experience in river archaeology. During the work in Nekhvoroshchya, underwater archaeologists carried out ground-field reconnaissance of the right bank, mapped survey squares, and picked up a significant number of artifacts.
