It is noted that establishing the circumstances of the disciplinary offense, the person who committed it and their guilt, the severity of the disciplinary offense, and the amount of damage caused are of great importance for bringing police officers to disciplinary responsibility. It is indicated that the establishment of the above is carried out within the framework of an official investigation.                  The achievements of scientists regarding the definition of the concept of "disciplinary proceedings" and the list of stages of bringing to disciplinary responsibility are studied. It is noted that the internal investigation should be considered the core of the procedure for bringing to disciplinary responsibility of police officers who have committed a disciplinary offense.                  The state of legal regulation of official investigation in relation to police officers who have committed a disciplinary offense is considered, in particular, the peculiarities of conducting an official investigation during the period of martial law. The inappropriateness of the rule regarding the temporary performance of duties in another position by a suspended police officer for the duration of an internal investigation during the period of martial law is substantiated. It is proved that the suspension of a police officer from his duties is a right, not an obligation, of the relevant manager. That is, this measure may not be applied at all. Regarding the assignment of temporary duties to another position or transfer to another position, this can be done in accordance with the general provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Police."Розглядається порядок притягнення поліцейських, що вчинили дисциплінарний проступок, до дисциплінарної відповідальності. Відзначається, що важливе значення для притягнення поліцейських до дисциплінарної відповідальності має встановлення обставин вчинення дисциплінарного проступку, особи, яка його вчинила, та її вини, ступеня тяжкості дисциплінарного проступку та розміру заподіяної шкоди. Вказується, що встановлення вищезазначеного здійснюється у рамках службового розслідування. Вивчаються надбання науковців щодо визначення поняття «дисциплінарне провадження» та переліку стадій притягнення до дисциплінарної відповідальності. Відзначається, що службове розслідування слід вважати ядром порядку притягнення до дисциплінарної відповідальності поліцейських, що вчинили дисциплінарний проступок. Розглядається стан правового регулювання службового розслідування стосовно поліцейських, що вчинили дисциплінарний проступок, зокрема особливості проведення службового розслідування в період дії воєнного стану. Обґрунтовується недоцільність норми щодо покладання тимчасового виконання обов’язків за іншою посадою на відстороненого від виконання службових обов’язків поліцейського на час проведення службового розслідування у період дії воєнного стану. Доводиться, що відсторонення поліцейського від виконання службових обов’язків є правом, а не обов’язком  відповідного керівника. Тобто цей захід можна взагалі не застосовувати.
