Attention is focused on the genre, thematic and linguistic originality of the text, its experimental nature. The author's creative motivations for writing this text, various states of his soul in the process of comprehending new life realities on the way to the long-awaited freedom, and psychological aspects of creativity are emphasized. Through the prism of the diary text, the peculiarities of Taras Shevchenko's communication with his friends, the exchange of creative plans, artistic texts are revealed, and the moral and ethical principles of creativity are emphasized. The writer's own characterization of this "colorful" and "memorable" book, his initial attempts to keep a diary, and his thoughts on writing as a craft and as creativity are outlined.  The factors of the artist's personal textology, the specifics of his creative work, the peculiarities of the origin and realization of artistic ideas, censorship, publication, and receptive aspects of the history of the text, creative writing techniques and methods, manifestations of the author's creative will, and ontological aspects of creative thinking processes are studied. The author shows Taras Shevchenko's attitude to the publication of his works, their historical fate, the peculiarities of manuscript documents, as well as the involvement of other persons in the creative process, the inclusion of works by other authors in the diary text, which often sound like a kind of accompaniment to various diary plots and impressions that reveal a wide range of the writer's personal experiences and his socio-political beliefs and views.Розглянуто «Щоденник» Тараса Шевченка як творчу лабораторію письменника під кутом зору сучасної текстології. Зосереджено увагу на жанрово-тематичній і мовній своєрідності тексту, його експериментальній природі. Досліджено чинники персональної текстології митця, особливості зародження й реалізації художніх задумів, цензурні, публікаційні, рецептивні аспекти історії тексту, творчі технічні засоби і прийоми письма, вияви творчої волі автора, онтологічні аспекти процесів художнього мислення.
