Звертається увага на еволюцію дослідницької парадигми мовознавчої генології – традиційні, новітні, дискусійні та перспективні аспекти фахового розгляду категорії жанру.The author analyzes the ideas about the nature, architectonics and differential features of genres, formulated in linguistics. Attention is paid to the evolution of linguistic genre theory’s research paradigm - traditional , modern , discussion and future aspects of the professional examination of the genre categories. Ambiguity in definition and development of optimal criteria for genre analysis leads to permanent professional discussions in different areas of knowledge, including philology. In turn, the analysis of linguistic genre’s extra- and intralingual has evolved - from focusing primarily on the content, formal and thematic characteristics of the literary text ( M. Bakhtin and others) to clarifying the functional, communicative dominant language units in mediagenres.
