Sergienko, scientist, professor of pedagogy of now Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. It has been defined four periods of his activity: creative search, military service, scientific-managing, teaching. There are short descriptions of each period. It has been admitted that D.L. Sergienko's ideas had evolution and developed concerning different periods of his activity. During creative search period of D. L. Sergienko's activity he studied history of development of polytechnic education in work of young naturalists, during scientific-managing period he learned history of development of polytechnic education and labor training and upbringing in rural schools, during teaching period the scientist researched problems of polytechnic education and labor training and upbringing in secondary schools in villages as well as in cities. The scientist's ideas about features of implementation of polytechnic education and labor upbringing in secondary schools, labor education in the family, professional orientation work, organization of work of groups of young naturalists, methodology of forming polytechnic knowledge and skills have been presented. Actuality of his views about polytechnic education and labor upbringing have been revealed, also the expediency of implementation of his ideas into modern pedagogical science has been mentioned.У статті розглянуто діяльність та педагогічні погляди Д. Л. Сергієнка, вченого, професора кафедри педагогіки нині Київського національного університету імені Тараса Шевченка.
