The article reveals the essence of the concept of volunteerism. The author presented different approaches of researchers to understanding this phenomenon, which were developed within the framework of pedagogical science. The author also defined the role of volunteer practice in the process of professional culture forming of future social workers. The article also describes the activity of one of the "Volunteer Schools", the purpose of this school's activities, the main areas of work. The author conducted an Internet questioning to study the level of awareness of future social workers with the essence of volunteerism and the state of the volunteer movement. The results of the questionnaire are also presented in the article. The author concluded that volunteering is the satisfaction of personal needs to help people, which is implemented by the volunteer support: free, free disinterested and socially oriented. Also the author has determined that volunteer activities aimed at improving professional motivation, the forming of values, development of professional knowledge, improving the professional skills, enriching the professional experience, expanding the scientific outlook and forming of moral qualities of a future social worker. Also, the author convinced, that the introduction of voluntary activities as a mandatory type of practice will significantly increase the level of professionalism of the future expert in social work. The prospects for further research we see in working out an educational and methodical support of voluntary practices for future social workers.Розкрито сутність поняття "волонтерство й основні підходи до розуміння цього явища. Визначено роль волонтерської практики у процесі формування професійної культури майбутніх соціальних працівників. Охарактеризовано діяльність однієї зі "Шкіл волонтерства", зазначено мету діяльності школи, основні напрями роботи тощо.
