The analysis included cases of very heavy fogs with visibility ≤50 m and duration ≥12 consecutive hours, information about which is posted in the “Reviews of Weather and Natural Hydrometeorological Phenomena in Ukraine” during 2020-2023. The number and recurrence of very heavy fogs in Ukraine during the cold and warm periods of the year were analyzed, and their territorial distribution was clarified. It was established that they are most often observed in the western regions of Ukraine in Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions. However, such fogs can also be observed in other regions. It was established that the onset of very heavy fogs occurs at night and in the morning, and the end is mostly in the afternoon or early evening. It has been proven that the duration of very heavy fogs mostly ranges from 12-17 hours to 24-29 hours. Individual cases of very heavy fogs can be longer, which depends on the conditions of their occurrence. As a rule, longer very heavy fogs are observed in the cold period of the year, especially in January-February and November-December. However, in some cases, the total duration of such fogs can reach a much longer duration. The longest cases of very heavy fogs reach 48 or more hours, and in some cases reach 70-80 hours and up to 100-143 hours. 14 cases were identified when very heavy fogs were observed during one month in several regions. Mostly such cases were observed in the months of the cold period of the year in the territory of Transcarpathia (Plai) and Ivano-Frankivsk (Pozhezhevsk), or Transcarpathia (Plai) and Chernivtsi (Novodnistrovsk, Chernivtsi). 2 cases were identified when very heavy fogs were observed in 3 regions within one month – in January 2020 (Transcarpathia, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr region) and November 2021 (Transcarpathia, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Kyiv region). The task for further research on cases of very heavy fogs of the QMS II category is to determine the dynamics of their formations in the territory of Ukraine in the spatio-temporal dimension during the thirty years 1991-2020. indicating the centers of their greatest recurrence in individual regions and comparing them with the current dynamics of their manifestation, outlined in this study, to determine whether there have been changes in their recurrence and regional manifestation across the territory of the state, especially in the most economically developed regions.Представлена стаття присвячена дослідженню територіального розповсюдження та повторюваності дуже сильних туманів категорії СМЯ ІІ на території України на поточному етапі зміни клімату. До аналізу залучались випадки дуже сильних туманів, видимість під час яких становила ≤50 м та тривалістю ≥12 годин поспіль, інформація про які розміщена в «Оглядах погоди та стихійних гідрометеорологічних явищ на території України» протягом 2020 – 2023 рр. Проаналізовано кількість та повторюваність дуже сильних туманів на території України, протягом холодного та теплого періодів року, з’ясовано їх територіальний розподіл. Встановлено, що вони частіше всього спостерігаються на території західних областей України на Закарпатті, Івано-Франківщині та Чернівеччині. Проте такі тумани можуть спостерігатись і в інших областях. Встановлено, що початок виникнення дуже сильних туманів припадає на нічні та вранішні години, а закінчення здебільшого на денні або передвечірні. Доведено, що тривалість дуже сильних туманів здебільшого коливається від 12-17 годин до 24-29 годин. Окремі випадки дуже сильних туманів можуть бути більш тривалими, що залежить від умов їх виникнення. Як правило більш тривалі дуже сильні тумани спостерігаються у холодний період року, особливо у січні-лютому та листопаді-грудні. Проте в окремих випадках загальна тривалість таких туманів може сягати значно більшої тривалості. Найбільш тривалі випадки дуже сильних туманів сягають 48 та більше годин, а в окремих випадках сягати 70 – 80 годин і до 100 –143 годин. Визначено 14 випадків, коли дуже сильні тумани спостерігались протягом одного місяця у декількох областях. Здебільшого такі випадки спостерігались у місяці холодного періоду року на території Закарпаття (Плай) та Івано-Франківщини (Пожежевська), або Закарпаття (Плай) та Чернівеччини (Новодністровськ, Чернівці).
