The paper analyzes the current state of the legal profession, identifies the main problematic aspects of its functioning, and proposes ways to address them. Special attention is paid to improving the regulatory framework, developing the system of professional training for lawyers, implementing modern technological solutions, and strengthening self-regulation mechanisms within the professional community. The key challenges facing the Ukrainian legal profession are analyzed, including imperfections in the legislative framework, ethical issues, questions of the lawyer's monopoly, and declining public trust in the profession. Based on the conducted research, a complex of measures for modernizing the institution of advocacy is proposed, including the creation of a unified electronic system, improvement of mechanisms for ensuring the quality of legal assistance, development of international cooperation, and implementation of a three-tier system of professional training for lawyers, among others. The necessity of a systematic approach to reforming the legal profession is substantiated, taking into account both national peculiarities and international standards of human rights activities. The article also examines issues of improving disciplinary practices, mechanisms for controlling the quality of legal services, and ensuring the real independence of the legal profession. Specific mechanisms for increasing the effectiveness of lawyer self-governance are proposed, including the implementation of electronic voting and enhancing the transparency of self-governing bodies' activities. The prospects for international integration of the Ukrainian legal profession and mechanisms for harmonizing standards of advocacy with European norms and practices of leading countries are considered.Стаття присвячена дослідженню актуальних проблем та перспектив реформування інституту адвокатури в Україні. У роботі проаналізовано сучасний стан адвокатури, виявлено основні проблемні аспекти її функціонування та запропоновано шляхи їх вирішення. Особлива увага приділяється питанням вдосконалення нормативно-правової бази, розвитку системи професійної підготовки адвокатів, впровадження сучасних технологічних рішень та посилення механізмів саморегулювання професійної спільноти. Проаналізовано ключові виклики, що стоять перед українською адвокатурою, включаючи недосконалість законодавчої бази, проблеми етичного характеру, питання адвокатської монополії та зниження суспільної довіри до професії. На основі проведеного дослідження запропоновано комплекс заходів щодо модернізації інституту адвокатури, включаючи створення єдиної електронної системи, вдосконалення механізмів забезпечення якості правової допомоги тощо. Обґрунтовано необхідність системного підходу до реформування адвокатури, який враховував би як національні особливості, так і міжнародні стандарти правозахисної діяльності. У статті також розглянуто питання вдосконалення дисциплінарної практики, механізмів контролю якості адвокатських послуг та забезпечення реальної незалежності адвокатури.
