The urgency of studying particular aspects of this problem, their perspective and significance are presented. It emphasizes on the monosemantic basis of the term. Medical terminology is a system which is used to preserve the general lexical features of natural language units in a medical terminology database, which is a set of collective knowledge of conventional and complementary medicine. The source base of the study is Ukrainian and English medical terms. The thematic groups are represented: anatomical medical terms, clinical medical terms, medical terms of diseases’ names, dental terms and pharmaceutical terms. The anatomic medical terms are divided into thematic groups: parts of body and viscera, human body tissues, musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, digestive system, endocrine system, central nervous system, senses system, urinary system, reproductive system. The clinical medical terms include the names of medical institutions and departments, methods of patient diagnosis, medical processes, surgical instruments and equipment, oncological, traumatology, obstetrics terms, terms of dietary and nanotechnology. The nomenclature of medical terms of diseases names, dental terms and pharmaceutical terms are systematized. The importance of the researched theme in mastering professional terminology is confirmed.У статті представлено огляд наукової літератури, присвяченої вивченню сучасного стану дослідження медичної термінології в лінгвістичній науці. Окреслено актуальність студіювання окремих аспектів зазначеної проблеми, їх перспективність та значущість. Наголошено на моносемантичній основі терміна. Під медичною термінологією розуміємо систему, яка зберігає загальні лексичні ознаки одиниць природної мови в медичній термінологічній базі даних, що представляє сукупність колективного знання конвенційної і комплементарної медицини. Джерельною базою дослідження послужили українські й англійські медичні терміни. Репрезентовано тематичні групи медичних термінів: анатомічні медичні терміни, клінічні медичні терміни, медичні терміни на позначення назв захворювань, стоматологічні терміни, фармацевтичні терміни. Анатомічні медичні терміни поділено на такі тематичні групи: частини тіла та внутрішні органи, тканини організму людини, опорно-руховий апарат, серцево-судинна система, дихальна система, травна система, ендокринна система, центральна нервова система, сенсорна система, сечовидільна система, репродуктивна система. До клінічних медичних термінів належать назви медичних установ та відділень, методів діагностики хворого, медичних процесів, хірургічних інструментів та обладнання, онкологічних термінів, травматологічних, акушерських понять, назви термінів із дієтології та із сфери нанотехнологій. Систематизовано номенклатуру медичних термінів на позначення назв захворювань, стоматологічних і фармацевтичних термінів.
