Today, the search for new (creative) ways and forms of preserving and restoring Ukrainian identity has become extremely relevant. Therefore, it is important to look once again at the evolutionary (historical) path of the formation of the Ukrainian people (ethnos) from its most ancient (archaeologically recorded) ancestors against the backdrop of the catastrophic levelling of the original mental characteristics of the Ukrainians- Rus and the disappearing landscape diversity of Ukrainian nature. It is also necessary to explore the deep humanistic origins of the ethnogenetic processes that have taken place and are taking place in Ukraine, in particular on the basis of the philosophical categories of morality and wisdom, goodness and justice. The purpose is to identify the degree of scientific resolution of the issues raised, to determine the state of self-identification of Ukrainians, their attitude to their own ethnic roots, and their rational perception of contemporary socio-political processes.  Conclusions. The essence of space and time as forms of existence of matter is movement. Ethnic groups, including Ukrainians, can be viewed in space-time (the unity of space and time in motion). In ancient times and throughout history, the ancestors of modern Ukrainians participated in ethnic mixing (the intermingling of peoples), as the territory of Ukraine was an arena for the movement of large numbers of peoples who came into contact with the indigenous population. The mixing of peoples on the territory of Ukraine was historically facilitated by its natural conditions: fertile black soil and a favourable climate, as well as an advantageous geopolitical and economic-geographical position, which has always attracted inhabitants of neighbouring (and distant) lands to this territory. Not only Slavs, but also many other peoples who, by chance or natural historical regularity, were in one way or another connected with the ethnic lands of modern Ukraine, participated in the formation of the current ethnic community of Ukrainians (and, at the same time, Old Rus). The origin of the Ukrainian ethnic group should be considered along a continuous vector, in an evolutionary plane, i.e. on the basis of the fundamental doctrine of evolutionism.Актуальність. На сьогодні надзвичайно актуальним став пошук нових (креативних) шляхів і форм збереження та відновлення української ідентичності. Тому вкотре важливо поглянути на еволюційний (історичний) шлях формування українського народу (етносу) від найдавніших (археологічно зафіксованих) його пращурів на тлі катастрофічного нівелювання споконвічних ментальних особливостей українців-русів і зникаючого ландшафтного різноманіття української природи. Також необхідно дослідити глибинні гуманістичні витоки етногенетичних процесів, які відбувались і відбуваються на теренах України, зокрема на основі філософських категорій моралі й мудрості, добра і справедливості. Мета – виявити ступінь наукового вирішення порушених проблемних питань, визначити стан самоідентифікації українців, ставлення їх до власного етнічного коріння, раціонального сприйняття сучасних суспільно-політичних процесів.    Висновки. Cутністю простору і часу як форм існування матерії є рух. Етнос, зокрема український, може розглядатися у просторі-часі (єдність простору і часу в русі). У найдавнішу добу і протягом історичного часу предки сучасних українців брали участь в етнічних міксаціях (перемішуванні народів), оскільки територія України була ареною руху великої кількості народів, які вступали в контакти з автохтонним населенням. Перемішуванню народів на теренах України історично сприяли її природні умови: родючі чорноземи і благодатний клімат, а також вигідне геополітичне, економіко-географічне положення, що завжди приваблювало мешканців сусідніх (і дальніх) земель  на цю територію. У формуванні нинішньої етнічної спільності українців (і заразом давньоруської) мали взяти участь не лише слов’яни, а чимало інших народів, які долею випадку чи природно-історичної закономірності так чи інакше були пов’язані з етнічними землями сучасної України.
