The war started by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has become a challenge for Ukraine and requires significant changes in the system of training military personnel to acquire powerful capabilities in the defense of our state. Reserve officers are one of thecategories of military personnel whose training requires special attention, therefore there is a need to improve the quality of selection and training of reserve officers. That is why the aim of the study was to work out an effective mechanism for the qualitative selection of citizens of Ukraine who are motivated and capable, in the course of obtaining a tactical level of military education, to master military-professional and military-special competences, duties for typical primary positions of officers, who expressed a desire to study under reserve officer training program.Methods. In the course of the study, theoretical methods were used for the study and comprehensive analysis of the scientific and theoretical development that has been formed today within the chosen subject.Results. The stages of conducting a longitudinal study in accordance with the multi-level method of psychological study of citizens of Ukraine during the competitive selection for military training under the reserve officer training program are proposed. The requirements for candidates fortraining in the L-1A basic course have been determined, among which the following can be distinguished: a sufficient level of mental abilities, psychological stability, an analytical thinking style and the presence of organizational abilities. Candidate evaluation criteria are proposed. Themethodological principles for the further conducting of an expert survey, if necessary, were considered.Conclusions. The developed multi-level method of psychological study of candidates for training under the reserve officer training program will provide an opportunity to optimize the process of psychological study of candidates for military training under the reserve officer trainingprogram.Вступ . Війна, яку розпочала російська федерація проти України, стала викликом для України і вимагає істотних змін у системі підготовки військових кадрів для набуття потужних спроможностей у захисті нашої держави. Однією з категорій військових кадрів, підготовка яких потребує окремої уваги, є офіцери запасу, тому постає необхідність удосконалення й підвищення якості відбору та підготовки офіцерів запасу. Саме тому метою дослідження стало відпрацювання ефективного механізму якісного відбору громадян України, вмотивованих і здатних під час здобуття тактичного рівня військової освіти до опанування військово-професійними та військово-спеціальними компетентностями, обов'язками для типових первинних посад осіб офіцерського складу, які виявили бажання навчатися за програмою підготовки офіцерів запасу.Методи . Під час дослідження було використано теоретичні методи, застосовані для вивчення та всебічного аналізу науково-теоретичного доробку, що сформувався на сьогодні у межах обраної тематики.Результати . Запропоновано етапи проведення лонгітюдного дослідження відповідно до багаторівневої методики психологічного вивчення громадян України під час конкурсного відбору для проходження військової підготовки за програмою підготовки офіцерів запасу. Визначено вимоги до кандидатів на проходження навчання за базовим курсом L-1A, серед яких можна виділити такі: достатній рівень розумових здібностей, психологічна стійкість, аналітичний стиль мислення та наявність організаційних здібностей. Запропоновано критерії оцінювання кандидатів. Розглянуто методологічні засади для подальшого проведення експертного опитування.Висновки .
