Досліджено механізми входження лівонських земель під владу короля Польщі і великого князя Литви Сигізмунда Августа, під протекторат Великого князівства Литовського, а пізніше – двоєдиної Речі Посполитої. У фокусі дослідження перебуває також правовий статус новоутвореного герцогства Курляндії і Семигалії. Уперше в українській історіографії аналізується текст привілеїв наданих Сигізмундом Августом лівонцям, як комплексного джерела до вивчення політико-правових відносин у Балтійському регіоні XVI ст. Розглянуто вплив соціальної та конфесійної політики польсько-литовського монарха на зміст документу, зокрема гарантії для протестантського рицарства Лівонії, забезпечення прав власності, судової автономії та рівного статусу з польською шляхтою. У статті подано україномовний переклад зазначеного нормативного акту 1561 р., відомого як «Привілеї, надані шляхті священним королем Сигізмундом Августом при підпорядкуванні всієї Лівонії», здійснений на основі документального матеріалу, опублікованого у третьому томі «Прибалтійського збірника» (Рига, 1880). Крім того, у цій роботі представлено короткий огляд постаті філолога-класика українського походження Григорія Янчевецького, який здійснив переклад «Привілеїв…» російською з латинської мови у ХІХ ст. Публікація спрямована на широке коло фахівців з історії Центрально-Східної Європи, країн Балтії, джерелознавства та історії права.This article pays particular attention to the historical context of the conclusion of the Union of Vilnius and the dissolution of the Livonian Order (the Livonian Branch of the Teutonic Order) as a political entity. It explores the mechanisms through which Livonian lands came under the rule of the King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, Sigismund Augustus, initially under the protectorate of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and later – under the dual authority of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The study also focuses on the legal status of the newly established Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. For the first time in Ukrainian historiography, the text of the privileges granted by Sigismund Augustus to the Livonians is analyzed as a comprehensive source for the study of political and legal relations in the Baltic region of the 16th century. The article examines the influence of the social and confessional policy of the Polish–Lithuanian monarch on the content of the document, particularly the guarantees for the Protestant Livonian nobility, the protection of property rights, judicial autonomy, and equal status with the Polish nobility. The article presents a Ukrainian-language translation of the 1561 legal act, known as the «Privileges granted to the nobility by His Sacred Majesty King Sigismund Augustus upon the subjugation of all Livonia», based on documentary material published in the third volume of the «Baltic Collection» (Riga, 1880). Additionally, the work provides a brief overview of the figure of Hryhorii Yanchevetskyi, a classical philologist of Ukrainian origin who translated the «Privileges» from Latin into Russian in the 19th century.
