Дослідження спрямоване на виявлення закономірностей формування та трансформації транспортної мережі в різні історичні періоди під впливом природно-географічних, соціально-економічних і політико-адміністративних чинників. Методологічною основою дослідження є системний та історико-географічний підходи. У роботі застосовано метод ретроспективного аналізу для дослідження послідовності формування транспортної системи, порівняльно-географічний метод - для зіставлення етапів розвитку окремих видів транспорту, а також просторовий аналіз для виявлення транспортних вузлів і коридорів. Статистичний метод використано для оцінки сучасних показників розвитку транспортної інфраструктури. Установлено, що транспортна система Рівненської області формувалася поступово й нерівномірно, відображаючи загальні закономірності соціально-економічного розвитку території та зміну історичних умов. На ранніх етапах її становлення провідну роль відігравали природні шляхи сполучення, передусім річкові долини та підвищені елементи рельєфу, які визначали напрями пересування населення й обміну товарами. Визначено основні етапи еволюції транспортної системи, кожен з яких характеризувався домінуванням певних видів транспорту та відповідною трансформацією просторової організації господарства регіону. Доведено, що індустріалізація ХІХ – початку ХХ ст. стала переломним моментом, зумовивши формування залізничної мережі, концентрацію транспортних вузлів і зростання ролі Рівненщини як транзитної території між Сходом і Заходом. Упродовж ХХ століття транспортна система набула комплексного багатовидового характеру завдяки розвитку автомобільного, повітряного та трубопровідного транспорту, що сприяло підвищенню територіальної зв’язаності, інтенсифікації господарських зв’язків і формуванню єдиного регіонального простору. Показано спадковість просторового «каркасу» транспортної мережі, який, попри політико-адміністративні трансформації, зберіг ключові напрями міжрегіональних комунікацій і визначив сучасну конфігурацію транспортних коридорів. Установлено, що на сучасному етапі транспортна система Рівненської області поєднує значний транзитний потенціал із низкою інфраструктурних обмежень, пов’язаних із пропускною спроможністю окремих ділянок, технічним станом інфраструктури та потребою розвитку мультимодальних логістичних рішень.The purpose of the article is to provide a comprehensive historical-geographical analysis of the evolution of the transport system of the Rivne region as an important component of the spatial organization of the regional economy. The study aims to identify the regularities of formation and transformation of the transport network in different historical periods under the influence of natural-geographical, socio-economic, and political administrative factors. The methodological framework of the study is based on systemic and historical geographical approaches. The research employs the method of retrospective analysis to examine the sequence of transport system formation, the comparative-geographical method to compare the stages of development of individual modes of transport, and spatial analysis to identify transport nodes and corridors. The statistical method is used to assess current indicators of transport infrastructure development. It has been established that the transport system of the Rivne region developed gradually and unevenly, reflecting general patterns of socio-economic development and changes in historical conditions. In the early stages of its formation, natural routes of communication—primarily river valleys and elevated relief elements—played a leading role, determining the directions of population movement and commodity exchange. The main stages of the evolution of the transport system have been identified, each characterized by the dominance of specific modes of transport and corresponding transformations in the spatial organization of the regional economy. It has been proven that the industrialization of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries became a turning point, leading to the formation of the railway network, the concentration of transport nodes, and the strengthening of the Rivne region’s role as a transit territory between East and West. Throughout the twentieth century, the transport system acquired a complex multimodal character due to the development of road, air, and pipeline transport, which contributed to increased territorial connectivity, intensification of economic ties, and the formation of a unified regional space. The continuity of the spatial “framework” of the transport network is demonstrated, which, despite political and administrative transformations, preserved key directions of interregional communications and determined the modern configuration of transport corridors. At the present stage, the transport system of the Rivne region combines significant transit potential with a number of infrastructural constraints related to the capacity of certain sections, the technical condition of infrastructure, and the need for the development of multimodal logistics solutions.ukтранспортна системаеволюціяісторико-географічний аналізРівненська областьСтаття
