Анотація
У теоретичній частині роботи були розглянуті існуючі підходи до тлумачення поняття «гендер» та «гендерні стереотипи». Таким чином, ми розглядаємо гендер як соціальний конструкт, який відображає культурні відмінності між чоловіками й жінками та має відношення до фемінності і маскулінності. Від поняття статі його відрізняє те, що «стать» відноситься до біологічної здатності або нездатності народжувати дітей і використовується для позначення аспектів чоловічої або жіночої природної будови, у той час як «гендер» – для відображення соціо-культурних аспектів, індивідуальних відчуттів, ідентичності та ролей чоловіка й жінки у суспільстві. Це ширше поняття, що враховує соціальні та особисті аспекти, а не обмежується лише біологією. Вивчення гендерних стереотипів є предметом дослідження для вчених. Такі стереотипи – це узагальнені уявлення суспільства про поведінку, вигляд і ролі, які приписуються людям на підставі їх статі. Вони можуть з’являтися під впливом культури і відрізнятися в залежності від народу чи часових рамок. Гендерні стереотипи, як правило, формуються і закріплюються на підсвідомому рівні протягом багатьох століть, що забезпечує їхню стійкість у суспільних переконаннях.
Перспективу подальших досліджень перекладу особливостей жіночого мовлення вбачаємо у підборі нового матеріалу серед численних телесеріалів та фільмів сьогодення на історичну або більш сучасну тематику для виявлення відмінних і спільних рис у мовленні героїнь, а також в аналізі способів перекладу, використаних перекладачами при субтитруванні чи дубляжі цих мовних одиниць.
The topicality of this paper lies in the need for a synthesized approach to gender and translation studies. Moreover, the analysis of the translation of female speech contributes to a better understanding of gender roles and socio-cultural norms. The research aims to highlight specific features of the translation of female speech in "Bridgerton" series and to determine the ways of its translation into the Ukrainian language. The case study selected for the analysis comprises more than 90 examples of female speech and the same number of counterparts in the translation language, taken from the first season of "Bridgerton" series and the text of its official Ukrainian dubbing performed by Netflix. The ways of reproducing women's speech from the selected material include such methods as literal translation, selection of correspondences in the target language, omission, concretization, holistic transformation, contextual substitution, generalization, replacement of one part of speech with another, transposition, addition, replacement of the person, semantic modulation, descriptive and antonymic translation. Each of these methods possesses distinctive features and factors influencing their application. Possible challenges in translation included the lack of direct equivalents for tag questions in the Ukrainian language and different speech patterns for conveying emotional expressions or forms of etiquette that required a holistic transformation. The translator should consider the various nuances of style, use of language, and communication strategies that characterize women's speech in the source language to ensure that they are correctly reproduced, understandable, and acceptable to the target culture. The prospect for further research implies the translation of female speech features based on new material selected from series and films on historical or contemporary topics to identify distinctive and common features in the speech of female characters, as well as the analysis of the translation techniques used by translators when subtitling or dubbing these linguistic units.
