In the work, an attempt was made to consider the specifics of the depiction of national identity in the female images of O. Zabuzhko's novels "Field Research on Ukrainian Sex" and "Museum of Abandoned Secrets". The relevance is determined by the presence in society of the consequences of the colonial past of the 20th century. and today's traumatic experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war: for both phenomena, the question of national identity is important, and literature directly affects the formation of the nation's identity.
The aim was to consider the depiction of the national identity of women's images in the above-mentioned novels. To achieve the goal, an analysis of scientific literature was carried out, interpretations of the concept of "national identity" were considered, and the features of the modern literary process were determined.
The national identity of female images in O. Zabuzhko's novels "Fieldwork in Ukrainian Sex" and "Museum of Abandoned Secrets" was examined with the help of postcolonial theory and trauma studies. As a result, the specifics of the image of national identity and its components were determined: the model of "existence-non-existence that kills", "own-alien", the role of the artist and literature in the formation of national identity.
